Today my guest is Jennifer Coburn, author of We’ll Always Have Paris, Reinventing Mona and a number of other entertaining, light-ish books. She learned about the Lebensborn Program and was compelled to learn more and share. This was a program created in 1935 to be the wellspring of future generations descended from those Nazi authorities deemed “racially valuable.” They bred kids with SS soldiers and women “volunteers.” They also stole babies from other countries that fit the mold. It is an appalling, true look into history from the perspective of three fictional women. It is kind of Handmaids Tale meets Swing Kids meets Sound of Music – without the music. Her dedication to detail is immersive and impressive.
