Deplatforming Hate Groups

Dr. Megan Squire is the Deputy Director for Data Analytics and OSINT at the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit advocacy organization specializing in civil rights and public interest litigation. Their work includes monitoring hate groups and other extremists and then exposing their activities to law enforcement agencies, the media, and the public.

Earlier this year, Megan led research on how hate groups are using cryptocurrency to raise funds.

Topics included:

  • What is de-platforming, and what is the objective?
  • What investigations are needed to gather the evidence to de-platform someone?
  • What are the best solutions to the whack-a-mole problem?
