Trailblazers sets out to capture Meanjin/Brisbane's local LGBTIQ history. Each week we sit down with a member of our community that has set balls in motion (no pun intended), laid foundations, picketed, protested, collectivised, fought for legislative change, cared for and raised our vibrant LGBTIQ family. From the HIV/aids crisis, the Joh Bjelke-Petersen years, decriminalisation of homosexuality, improving healthcare and access for trans and gender diverse folk, fighting sexism and improving healthcare and health promotion for queer women, fighting for the rights of queer families and access to fertility treatments to Pride parades, big gay days and marriage equality, these people have dedicated their lives to making ours easier.
