While we both hope that our ties to Alabama put us on track to be considered luminaries of the state, we'll never be in the same league as actress Tallulah Bankhead. Born into a powerful political dynasty in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1902, she won a trip to New York City at the age of just 15. She took it from there, landing movie roles and a reputation for her stage work that would take her to London, Hollywood, and permanent icon status.
