You read correctly. Dianne Lake was allowed to live with Manson at the age of 14. Even without the story of Charlie Manson Dianne Lake's life makes for a fascinating book. With parents who had strange beliefs that would make most Lawrence Welk watching parents in the sixties faint and with a mother who turned her dad into drugs in 1967, Dianne did not have a stable home life. This was before Manson. Dianne's book "Member of the Family" offers a one of a kind look into living with the "Family".
