The early Methodists were convinced that God's grace is available to all, and that God truly wants all to be saved and offers this grace to all! They taught that God respected human dignity and allows people to turn away from Him as they desired to. This was in conflict with those in their day who held strongly to the view of predestination, meaning God arbitrarily choose humans to receive salvation or damnation without letting humans have any means of responding. We believe very strongly that God wants an interactive relationship with human; God always acts first, but we must respond to him. We love because he first loved us!
