(11/28/18)Since 1990, American presidents have been required by law to oversee a major report on climate change called the National Climate Assessment featuring research from 13 federal agencies and 300 scientists. Despite plans to release the findings in December, the Trump administration opted to rush the 1,600-page report out on “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving. On Monday, President Trump told an AP reporter, “I don’t believe it.” In this week’s “TrumpWatch” on WBAI, host Jesse Lent talks to Umair Irfan, staff writer for Vox and author of the Nov. 26 article “Trump White House issues climate change report undermining its own policy” about what the environmental consequences are for a president who doesn’t believe in global warming in 2018.
