This week on #TubtaNabadda, ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, celebrated globally on 19 June, we discuss ways to prevent sexual violence in conflict in Somalia and alleviate its psychological and physical impact on survivors. In the first segment of the programme, we hear from Sadia Mohamed Nur, Director of the Gender Department of the Ministry of Women and Human Rights. She talks about measures taken by the ministry to prevent and address sexual violence in conflict in Somalia, and the major challenges in responding to it. She also talks about how the international community and local organisations can better support these efforts. In the second segment of the programme, we hear from Abdulaziz Sheikh, Director of Arladi Environmental and Human Rights Organization. He speaks about how Somali non-governmental organisations can help to address sexual violence in conflict areas, and what partnerships are essential to tackle the scourge. The programme is presented in Somali by Faiza Abdi and Mohamed Salad. Share your views by calling in your favourite radio station during the show today.
