Krista MacGregor is certified in Integrative Nutrition and a health coach with a passion for healthy living. Through her life experience, working through health problems like migraines, eating disorders, and stress and anxiety issues she finally sought help and found that nutrition can help to heal bodies. Once she discovered how she could become healthy she wanted to share that knowledge with others.

Integrative nutrition has a dual purpose; help people find the right balance of healthy, clean foods and work on changing behavior so that the progress made lasts a lifetime. The concept of Bio-individuality which is understanding what works uniquely for each individual, is the key to success.

What are clean foods? Anything that is not highly processed, anything without a food label is perfect.

What is “healthy weight loss”? When people lose weight they gain confidence. If they gain the weight back they look at it as a failure. Healthy weight loss is combining two actions

  1. eating the right foods for your body that will detoxify, that is, releasing anything foreign.
  2. changing peoples behavior so that they have the confidence to continue to move forward.

When the lifestyle change occurs there is no other lifestyle to return to, the change is complete.

Are there some people who are better prepared to make the lifestyle change? People who have chronic health issues, toxic health issues and people who are 50 or over and don’t want to face health issues in the future are best prepared to make the lifestyle change. That does not mean others are not able, just that these people are highly motivated.

What are common foods people remove from their diet as part of a healthy weight loss program?

  1. Processed sugar
  2. Soda
  3. Diet soda
  4. Any processed sugar subsitutes
  5. In some cases gluten

The point of removing these foods is to enable people to see how they feel when these foods are removed from their diet. In many cases people report that their “brain fog” is cleared and they have more energy.

Are there clean food eating tips?

  • In the morning drink, before eating or drinking anything else, drink a glass of warm water with the juice from half a lemon, it’s a great detoxifier.
  • Any dark leafy green is wonderful as an anti-inflamatory
  • Smoothies…with clean food ingredients…Krista uses spinach, celery, strawberries, banana coconut water and flax.
  • Clean meats, meaning no hormones, steroids, free range

It is important to note that people progress at different paces so there are programs designed to move at the pace that people see as most beneficial. In addition to the clean eating it is also important to exercise. Each person has an individual “set point”. That “set point” is based on how you feel and the goal is to determine and reach that “set point”.

Weight loss encompasses physical change as well as mental and behavioral change. All three must be present to create lasting success. The most important lesson Krista conveys is get help.

Krista can be reached by e-mail krista@ki-elements.com her office is at 381 Hubbard St., Glastonbury, CT and her phone is 860-883-3478.
