The Parkland shooting was a tragic incident that occurred on February 14, 2018, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, USA. A former student of the school, Nikolas Cruz, entered the campus armed with a semi-automatic rifle and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of 17 people and injuring several others. The victims included students and staff members. The shooting sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for gun control legislation in the United States. It also led to the emergence of the student-led gun control advocacy group, March for Our Lives, which has since campaigned for stricter gun laws and improved school safety measures.
