"Thoughts and prayers" is a term often used when people want to show their sympathy and care towards a tragic event, but what does this actually mean, and is there a meaningful way those actions could actually have an impact on a person's life? In this episode of 2414, Dan and Shane explore ways we can think and pray about people in and outside of our our lives.
Scripture References:
1 Timothy 2:1-3
"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior."
Philippians 4:4-7
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness[a] be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Luke 6:27-31
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
Lord/God/Jesus, bless me (or a specific person) with:
peace.
hope.
mercy.
joy.
safety.
forgiveness.
kindness from others.
contentment.
friends.
health.
grace.
rest.
daily provisions.
Don't forget to continue the conversation at home, in the car, at work, or anywhere you can find someone to talk to! Thanks for walking with us!"
