The Athlete A documentary on Netflix focuses on the gymnasts who survived USA Gymnastics (USAG) doctor Larry Nassar’s abuse and the reporters who exposed USAG’s toxic culture. Now more than ever, we need to look after the people we work with, regardless of where they are on their sport and physical activity journey.

In this podcast, Senior Consultant at the Child Protection in Sport Unit Carole Billington-Wood, Safeguarding in Sport Lead at the National Working Group Kevin Murphy and Athletics Coach David Turner discuss the implications the documentary has for coaches.

The discussion also includes the newly launched UK Coaching Duty to Care Toolkit, with our guests diving into the five pillars of Duty to Care:

  • Safeguarding
  • Inclusion
  • Diversity
  • Mental Health
  • Well-being
