In this episode Dutchman and philosopher Jan Leendert Van Der Mooren shares his story of losing his religion and later finding Socratic Discussion as a way to make meaning in the world. He explains Socratic Discussion and demonstrates to us how the meaning we give a concept can change, or evolve based on a person’s experiences of the world.
Jan Leendert also raises the idea of not only the unabridged person, but an unabridged world, an idea proposed as quite important given the super global state of contemporary society. He suggests that a start of a solution is learning to listen to other people, no matter how different their experiences, ideas, beliefs or political thoughts may be to your own.
