Twelve months ago, a UN Report stated that achieving equality could take nearly 300 years if the current rate of progress continues. In the study, it was revealed “how gender disparities are worsening in the face of “cascading” global crises – such as the COVID-19 pandemic, violent conflict, and climate change – coupled with the backlash against women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

When it comes to who suffers the most in all these crises, it is always the women and children. When it comes to our best chance to re-design our communities to build a better future for all and overcome our challenges, women must be part of the decision-making process, because women are in a unique position to offer solutions from their lived experiences. Therefore, women must be at every table where decisions are being made, but this is not happening today.

In the Global South, the challenges for women and children are even more dire and expected to get worse, and that is why I am delighted to welcome Praveen Gupta to join me, so we can discuss the unique challenges women face, as well as the opportunities we must embrace, which will benefit all.

Praveen is an intellectual and a professional with deep insights into the insurance and risk industry. More than that, he cares deeply about social issues, with diversity and climate change two core topics. You can read his articles on Illuminem and at The Diversity Blog.

Do join us. This is an important conversation and there will be many powerful take-aways.

Climate Courage is a fortnightly Livestream and podcast published on Uncommon Courage, where we go big picture on the climate crisis and focus on the actions you and I can take to be part of the solution. Whether individual action, community action, or national/global action - every single one of us can be part of ensuring a live-able future for our children and grandchildren. We owe them that!
