Have you ever felt an emptiness despite a life filled with busy schedules, possessions, and endless media consumption? Join us as we explore how fasting can be the key to feeling truly fulfilled. In this episode, we dive into the spiritual practice of fasting, not as a burden, but as a gift that allows us to be filled with God's Spirit and live fully alive. We'll discuss how fasting, much like prayer, has the power to transform our lives and the lives of those around us. Jesus modeled and taught fasting, showing us that it’s a way to draw closer to the Father and seek His guidance. We'll look at how fasting isn't about abstaining from food alone but is a means to focus on God, trust Him more, and align our lives with His will. Join us as we unpack these key scriptures and reflect on these essential questions. We’ll also introduce a monthly communal fast, encouraging us to come together in seeking God’s presence and experiencing His fullness. **Key Scriptures:** - **Matthew 9:14-15:** Jesus discusses the appropriateness of fasting with His disciples. - **Matthew 6:16-18:** Jesus instructs on how to fast in a way that honors God. - **Acts 9:9, 13:2-3, 14:23:** Examples of fasting in the early church. - **2 Chronicles 7:14:** The promise of God's response to humble prayer and fasting. - **Psalm 42:** A depiction of longing for God’s presence. - **Job 23:12:** Treasuring God’s words more than necessary food. - **Matthew 5:6:** The blessing for those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. **Motivation for Monthly Communal Fast:** As a church, we are committed to fostering a spirit of togetherness and dependence on Jesus. Starting August 1st, we invite you to join us in a monthly communal fast. This is not just about abstaining from food but about seeking heartfelt repentance, drawing closer to God, and aligning our lives with His will. Through intentional relational discipleship, we aim to create a rhythm that allows us to experience God's presence and form our spiritual practice together. Abstain from a meal or your own form of fasting, as we pray together for the lost to hunger for and experience Gods presence as we do
