Physical Symptoms Of Stress

What stresses people? How do stressed people think? How are you coping with stress? If you tend to get stressed, what’s your stress behavior? Stress is not a minor aggravation. It can be and usually does become a significant factor in your health. Here are some of the physical symptoms of stress.

To quote from the American Psychological Association website How Stress Affects Your Health

“The long-term activation of the stress response system and the overexposure to cortisol and other stress hormones that come with it can disrupt almost all of your body’s processes. This can put you at increased risk for a variety of physical and mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, digestive issues, headaches, muscle tension and pain, heart disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep problems, weight gain, and memory and concentration impairment.”

However, it can just make you miserable. Regardless the importance of stress management is undeniable.

Stress Management – Coping With Stress Through Meditation

What Is Stress Caused By?

So what causes stress? When you look at the world of stress, your question may change to what doesn’t cause stress. Well, one of the big things that can cause stress is insecurity around basic needs. The notable thing about this stressor, and many others, is that fear is the core. Fear will cause stress, whether actual, projected, or worry about past or future events. F.E.A.R. is an anagram for false evidence appearing real.

Anxiety, fear, and stress all go hand in hand. Your basic survival needs have substantial effects on the levels of stress that you may be experiencing. Some basic needs, like air, only play into this once you experience a lack. And at that point, the stress can become genuine fear. That sounds funny to say air, but there is a lot of pollution in the air, especially in this day and age where forest fires rampage the earth affecting the quality of the air and the water. Somedays, it can be challenging to find fresh, smokeless air.

So survival needs such as clean air, clean water, enough sleep, enough food, and shelter always have been and will probably always be prominent factors in your stress makeup.

Coping With Stress And Your Social Pressuresstress managment

It’s a fundamental need to feel connected to other people and have a means of self-expression. Not having a support system can definitely cause stress in your life. This can be caused by different factors.

Your level of finances can definitely impact your social role and functionality. Because of the way society works, money has become a major stressor. New or current clothing, housing, and transportation sources have become expensive. Yet you feel like you are being judged on them all. And you are, by certain groups of people, that is.

At first glance, it seems everything in life that can bring ease and happiness require money. So get stressed about money, your job, career. You are strongly concerned about your living conditions. Where you will live, the size and quality of your abode. This is no longer about just finding a suitable habitat. It is about what people may think about your place of residence. How big is it? Is it in the right neighborhood?

And, tied up in that sometimes is the need to provide for others and feeling responsible for others. Some significant stressors are your relationships and the issues around them. You have a desire and need to feel safe and secure in your relationships and have them feel safe. So when the relationship waters are rough, it can be a prominent source of anxiety.

These relationships can go far beyond your family and close friends. Career and job issues can fold into this area of your life. Coping with stress at work is a big one. You may have got an overbearing boss who’s always picking on you. Your colleagues may be loading an excess of work on you. More than you can cope with. Or you may have some form of performance anxiety at work. So people get stressed about things at work that bleeds over into their regular life.

Coping With Stress And Your Healthstress will lead you nowhere

Health issues are the cause of much stress. Everything from personal health concerns to dealing with the health care systems, especially in the post-virus era.

A disease is a disease. And in the past, dealing with disease and health issues was a team effort. You, your doctor, and the health care institution. Doctors, nurses, and technicians all seemed to care. Now the system has become desensitized.

Things like the time you spend waiting for appointments to be made, delays in getting to see doctors, interpretations of tests such as scans, and waiting to have tests performed and their results. The new form of health care is telephone consults and being unable to see a doctor in person.

Even with the advancements in the medical and pharma industries, there is an air of not knowing what’s going on with your health. Not understanding what is going on with your health, let alone a viable solution, can be very stressful. Having somebody you love and care about who’s going through a health issue is very stressful.

So problems with the systems, the financial system, the health care system, relationships, and these kinds of things can be personal causes of stress.

Media And Stress

You can have a big-picture complaint about the way of the world. This can make you feel anxious. Many of you look at the world today and feel it’s all going to hell. It can’t, or it’s not going to get better. It’s only going to get worse. The world is going to end soon. Sure. Everybody’s been saying that since man has been able to reason. It is like the Chicken Little saga where he thought the “sky is falling.”

It’s most likely been said in every era in history. In recent history, we have had:

  • The cold war threatening nuclear holocaust,
  • Y2K, the world stopped because computerization would collapse.
  • 2012 was the end of the Mayan calendar, prophesying the end of the world.
  • Several near misses by asteroids.

In this society, you have instant media that earlier generations did not have. The combination of computers, the internet, smartphones, and independent contract reporters has made the media a massive conglomerate of information at your fingertips. The problem is that it comes at you from every angle, every day, 24/7, sometimes unwanted, and occasionally not accurate, such as false news.

You don’t know whether the information you are getting is authentic. This is even true with personal emails and telephone messages. Hackers trying to access your personal data. Sometimes it can be all too much, causing high-stress levels.

More Causes Of Stress

Here is a list of several stressors that have become very prevalent in most of your lives:

Worrying about people you care about. They’re not well, or another negative behavior they’re doing, such as an addiction.

PTSD, living with the aftermath of past time trauma. Whether you have been a military person and have seen action in one of the wars going on the planet. Or whether you are an abuse survivor.

Too much responsibility. Feeling so responsible for other people makes you feel overwhelmed. Because if you are dealing with not only yourself and your own issues but with everybody else’s.

Perfectionism. Perfectionism is needing to be perfect and do everything perfectly. Having these high expectations to live up to and the fear of failure. Or being flooded with high expectations people have of you. Whether actual or projected. learn how to stop being a perfectionist

Shyness can be a great source of anxiety. Speaking up can be excruciatingly stressful if you are shy and need to speak up amongst people.

Self judgments. Many of you are very hard on yourself. You can be our own worst judge. You put a lot on your shoulders. And that can cause you to feel stressed as well.

Uncertainty is not knowing what the future holds, what the answers are, what somebody’s thinking about you, or not knowing what is happening. Decisions are being made about you but not including you. Things like being downsized. A bit of a paranoid feeling and existence.

Being abused. Whether it’s emotional, mental, physical, or sexual, and if it’s ongoing, a person is permanently living on eggshells on pins and needles. Not knowing the next time that this is going to happen to them. There are a lot of people living in situations like that in our world. Even if it is only a perceived abuse, it can be stressful.

Being alone can cause anxiety. And if you spend much time alone when you go out into the world, it feels terrifying. Because you are not used to being sociable, you are not used to conversing with or interacting with others.

Fear can cause anxiety, and fear is usually a projection of something that might happen in the future. It’s not happening now. But you are afraid it will. And so, therefore, you are really anxious and stressed about it. So there are lots of forms of fear of the future.

Fear of being alone,

  • fear of dying,
  • fear of not being able to cope,
  • fear of not having enough money,
  • fear of not having anywhere to live,
  • fear of speaking up in public.

You name it, and there is a fear that can surround it. how to overcome fear painlessly

There are so many things that cause you stress that are actually things that you are making up in your own mind at the time. And then there is fear of the things that are very local and personal to you. But, like you were saying, there is this whole global level of stress. So there is the local stress within you, your life experiences, the people around you, the extended people around you, and the planet as a whole.

How To Relieve Stress And Anxiety

Today we are talking about coping with stress. The primary tool you can learn in coping with stress and anxiety is meditation practice. And while I teach a form of meditation that is helpful for you in healing and developing your intuition, it’s also beneficial for coping with stress.

I have taught these coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety meditation techniques to business executives, lawyers, VPs, CEOs, and many regular people like you as coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety. When you eliminate stress and anxiety in any part of your life, you allow yourself to flourish and be successful.

One of the reasons that meditation works is that it allows you to contact your higher self, Spirit. Spirit is not bound by time or space, nor does it feel emotion. So picture those being removed from your psyche. It would release you to be you in the present, the now. No fear, no worries, just being.

Here is a little example of how your worry can be erased.

Take a few deep breaths. As you do this, think of an issue that worries you. Ponder on it. Get into the negative state of it. Feel it.

NOW take a large, deep breath and hold it. Still, think about your issue. HOLD that breath. Keep holding it longer. Hold it as long as you can until you feel your lungs will burst. And once you cannot do that anymore, let go.

What do you notice? Yes. The worry is gone. Your body thought youthere are benefits of living in the present moment were dying, so your breath became your primary focus. In essence, if you change your viewpoint, your point of view will change. Learning how to manage stress in life has much to do with your point of view. Being in the present can reduce your stress by a large percentage because most stress comes from worrying about what has happened in the past and what will happen in the future.

For example, if you are facing a severe situation such as an operation. Examine the worry. You are worried about the outcome, whether there will be pain afterward, will the issue be resolved, and extreme concern whether you will live through it. These are all future fears or worries. But in the immediate now, there is no pain concerning the operation, and you are present and alive.

  • Brian – I’m actually much better at managing stress. Mainly for me, my top stressor is dealing with finances, trying to bring an income in! That and all the things I think I need to do are just reassessing my priorities! My stress level out of 10 is 4.
  • Tracy – What stresses me out are:
    • 1) Not knowing what the future holds.
    • 2) Am I really doing what I came here to do?
    • 3) Will the world ever change?
  • Njeri – Hello! Today is a 777 Portal Day (07/2+5/2023). Can you share any insights or messages from Spirit on this? Thank you. Also, what stresses me is navigating other people’s negative energy or adverse environments.
  • Katie – Current stress level is 6/10 – important test coming up, unknown next steps in career and relationship/ unanswered questions.
  • Tracy – Thank you for the meditation.
  • Denise – Today is the day out of time according to the 13 Moon calendar.

I believed the money would be easier to manifest, but it seems to have become much harder for me. Is that a typical feature of raising our vibrations? Perhaps it’s just coming out of the heavier vibration of making money the old-fashioned way, working hard for it at unfulfilling jobs, etc.? Could you shed some light on this?
    • BC – Good point. I wonder if I should focus on what I want to do with the money rather than the money itself.
  • Tracy – Could you take a look at my energy? I’m unsure if I am stuck in perfectionism or procrastination or if I really need to be still and let things happen.
