Ange Cynthia Umuhire is a Ph.D. student in astronomy at the University of Rwanda. Her research focuses on the prediction and forecasting of space weather through the analysis and characterization of its main agents – coronal mass ejections. She is convinced that increasing the number of women in science will lead to many opportunities and development for the continent. She wants to inspire young girls to pursue science, because “if you educate a woman, you educate a nation”.
She is one of the 20 African women researchers rewarded for the excellence of their scientific work through the For Women in Science Young Talents Program for Sub-Saharan Africa, led by The Fondation L’Oréal and UNESCO.
