Democratic Alliance urges SIU to investigate Bree Street Rehabilitation Project and Step Up Engineering following the contractor's failure to meet several contractual obligations

Democratic Alliance Johannesburg Caucus Leader, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku has called on the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to look into the Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly Bree) Rehabilitation Project. This comes as the Johannesburg Roads Agency has terminated the contract of the company which has been working to fix the 1.8km stretch of road previously known as Bree Street. The road, which encompasses various businesses, residential properties and commonly used by the taxi industry and commuters was damaged during an underground gas explosion last year in July.
