Eastern Cape business owners living in fear as exertion syndicates demand "protection fees"

The business community in Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape, is has raised concern about the high level of extortion against businesses in Mthatha. Business is grappling with escalating security threats as syndicates, emerging as a disruptive force and demanding protection fees from businesses. The Eastern Cape Business Chamber says this concerning as some businesses are closing down due to syndicates allegedly demanding Protection Fees.
