A Researcher and Lecturer at Wits University, Dr Gilad Isaacs says the 2.5 percent salary increase for MPs in the seventh Parliament, will not have much impact on the public purse. Earlier this year President Cyril Ramaphosa approved the salary increase for MPs, members of the provincial legislatures and Premiers. New MPs will be earning about R1.27 million annually or hundred thousand a month. Dr Isaacs says while these increases may be relatively high compared to ordinary workers -- they are not above inflation. Abongwe Kobokana reports...
