Three-quarter of Vadana's female ensemble, Katie, Laima, and Maryah

To round up our podcast miniseries, two of our Vadana team members sat down to discuss the issues women face in the music industry and possible ways to overcome them. From sexual harassment and assault claims from fans against once revered musicians to the objectification and patronisation of female performers, there's a lot of work to be done to ensure gender equality and safety in the industry.

While this episode tries to cover several talking points, it is by no means the final word on the matter. Maryah and Katie share their thoughts based on their own experiences and their research, but they both acknowledge the this is an issue that requires constant and continually evolving dialogue between all parties in the industry.

If you're interested in learning more about this topic, Katie and Maryah invite you to visit the following websites for more information:

Women In Music: Women in Music is an organisation with a mission to advance the awareness, equality, diversity, heritage, opportunities, and cultural aspects of women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment, and recognition. Women in Music believes that the conversation around equality is an inclusive discussion where all voices are welcome.

Reversal of the Muse: Laura Marling's podcast explores female creativity and discusses women's role in the arts.

SoundGirls: This programme wants to inspire and empower the next generation of women in audio by providing support, career development, and tools to help those working in the field advance in their career. SoundGirls also seeks to expand opportunities for girls and women in these fields and to share resources and knowledge through cooperation, collaboration, and diversity.
