And now for this week’s prescription:

On this week’s dose, we have Jan Ryan, serial entrepreneur, professor and acclaimed champion of female founders.

First, we dive into Jan’s early career, which involved a lot of innovative ‘firsts’, namely the personal computer, email, and the world wide web. You’ll hear Jan talk about her experience creating, leading, and scaling several businesses, and some of the challenges she faced as a woman in the industry.

From there, Jan discusses some of the obstacles encountered along her entrepreneurial journey, and gives us a glimpse into the acquisition process.

We then shift gears into a discussion on what she’s been focused on more recently, which is supporting the next generation of female entrepreneurs through several initiatives. Some of these initiatives include the Kendra Scott Womens’ Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KSWELI), and the Austin Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) task force.

Jan is truly a local legend, and we are proud to play a small part in telling her story and empowering more women to get into venture. With that, here is our conversation with Jan.
