A história de The Last of Us, tanto nos jogos quanto na série, é justamente sobre os vinte anos após o início de uma infecção como essa. Sobra pouca esperança e poucas comunidades, cada uma tentando sobreviver a seu modo, onde os poucos de nós continuam enfrentando os dilemas da perda, da angústia e do propósito de uma vida após o fim da civilização atual.
