A trained anthropologist, Catherine and Ashley discuss her journey as a scientist, visionary, and leader at National Geographic. Catherine has extensive experience in policy, strategy, management, metrics, and communication of international grant-making, biodiversity conversation, and combating wildlife trafficking, and is widely published in articles relating to conservation topics. She received her M.A. in Anthropology at the University of Colorado Boulder and her Ph.D. in Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University.

Besides being a (LAPSED) scientist, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family, especially her 3-year-old, being outdoors, and bingeing on podcasts and books.
