Reduction in snowfall and snowpack. Warmer water temperatures. Increased droughts. More forest fires.
What does this all mean for our future? Climate change is a real threat to the planet, and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is not immune to it.
In Episode 03, we sit down with paleoclimatologist Cathy Whitlock to discuss what climate change is doing to this special place. Dr. Whitlock is the co-lead author and scientist for the Greater Yellowstone Climate Assessment, an “in-depth summary of past, historical, and projected future changes to temperature, precipitation, and water in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.” Released in June 2021, the Greater Yellowstone Climate Assessment uses the best available science to explore climate change impacts to our region and provide a basis for informing adaptation and mitigation strategies moving forward.
Join us and learn about the first ecosystem-scale climate study of its kind!
Voices of Greater Yellowstone was created by the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, a conservation nonprofit dedicated to working with people to protect the lands, waters, and wildlife of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, now and for future generations.

The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is the land of 30+ Indigenous Tribes who maintain current and ancestral connections to the lands, waters, wildlife, plants, and more.
