This is Episode 59 of the VulnerABLE Podcast!

She grew up in vulnerability, and her life would be full of it as she struggled to define her sexual orientation for years. Now she's an ordained minister, helping those who have come out later in life!

Growing up she’d have to deal with an alcoholic parent, making her entire childhood full of vulnerability. This was just the beginning for her, because for her entire life she felt like part of her was missing, like something wasn’t right but it would take years before she’d begin to truly figure it out. She would live her life by the societal norms, go to school, get married, and start a family. She was always dimly aware of her sexual orientation leaning towards women, but growing up in a very catholic home she would suppress it knowing it would never fly. Then in her 40s she began to realize that she needed to begin exploring this part of her that she had kept hidden for so long. She decided to come out to her husband, and a few years later they started therapy for other reasons, where unfortunately she didn’t find a ton of support at first. All in all, it wasn’t until 4 years ago when she decided to finally come out to everyone, and begin living her truth. Now as a graduate of Yale Divinity School, she’s an ordained minister in the progressive United Church of Christ, a grief counsellor, and a hospice chaplain. She provides individual coaching and mutual support groups for people coming out to the LGBTQIA+ community.
