No one likes a person who thinks DOOM is coming all the time. People like to believe in the best of a situation. BUT a red flag is still a red flag. And no matter how optimistic you want to be, there are times when caution needs to be had. In general, you want to assume the good in person but sometimes you must evaluate the situation and history before setting your mind to "assuming the good". Especially when you are trying to convince someone else to ignore precedent, warning signs, or their gut to be cautious or even "assume the bad" in a situation for the sake of simply "assuming the good" Especially when personal relationships, dignity, and reputation are on the line.
