It's funny how we all claim we appreciate feedbacks, but feel bad when such feedbacks are negative. The truth is, most positive appraisals we receive from friends are not necessarily the true reflection of issues, they just don't want to bruise our egos. Anyone who desires to grow and become better in their chosen field must have enough heart to receive criticisms and then take the necessary parts of such criticisms to better their lives.
