BACK TO SCHOOL

It’s that time again! I know it must seem hard to believe, but Summer break is over, and it’s time for School!

Well, as I share these words, I know some are filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation of all the new school year holds, and others are not nearly as thrilled as they see the challenges ahead.

I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to take advantage of every learning possibility presented to you in the days, weeks and months ahead. From my own personal experience, I can assure you that while the years of education seem to move slowly, you will look back one day and realize the time went much faster than you dreamed possible.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of school is the network of friends you have developed over the years…some friendships will last a lifetime, while different careers and distance will separate you from them.

I want to challenge you to develop your relationship with the Lord, knowing that He will be there for you as you go through your years of school as well as following your graduation. Here’s a great word from God to Joshua as he faced tremendous challenges in Deuteronomy 31:5-6 (NIV) 5 The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you. 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Be a person of character and integrity in a world in need of seeing these in action in the lives of people they know daily. Too many people are intent on “being” characters, instead of having character!

Look at this great scripture on how even someone young can be a leader as Paul writes to a very young minister named Timothy – 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV) 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

If you our students would simply take 1 Timothy 4:12 to heart and make those goals in their lives for each school year, the impact on our schools, families and churches would be amazing!

Blessings in Christ,

W.T. AYERS

Lord, I pray the students in this school would show proper respect for the authorities you have placed over them and recognize all authority comes from you. Help them to speak and act in a way that is respectful of all teachers, administrators, and other school staff. (Inspired by Romans 13:1-5)

Submission to Governing Authorities

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
