The religious mindset is based on humanistic practices that people of this world seek to follow to be pleasing to God. Much of these teachings are based on tradition, ceremony, and reasonable myths. Yet, Jesus came to show mankind the true way we should live based on the truth so we can have eternal life. As many of the Jews began to believe in Jesus, He said, to them, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The Jews answered, “We are Abraham’s descendants, we have never been slaves to anyone. How can You say we will be set free?” They were thinking in human terms. They were like many who have been raised in the church today. Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
