Victorious – Matthew 5:13-16
  • Perfect Creation

    • God didn’t create anything evil.
  • Attack on Creation
    • Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. -Genesis 3:1a
    • Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. -Revelation 12:7-8
    • And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. –Revelation 12:9
    • What does he do?
      • He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” -Genesis 3:1b
    • Took her eyes off God’s word and made it about her desires.
  • Where does this leave us?
    • To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” -Genesis 3:16
    • By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” -Genesis 3:19
  • Plan for Salvation
    • I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” – Genesis 3:15
      • Is this Jesus?
    • Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. -Isaiah 53:4-6

      • Salvation is needed by ALL
    • Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. -1 John 3:7–8
  • Victory in Jesus
    • Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” – John 3:3
    • And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. -John 3:14-15
