With sharemarkets having recovered strongly from the March sell-off, breaching all-time highs, and traditional low risk assets like bonds and term deposits offering sub 1% returns, diversification has never been more important. Despite their popularity with industry super funds and other professional investors, private or ‘alternative’ investments remain underweight in most portfolios. Private markets tend to be less volatile but require more patience and offer exposure to more diverse businesses or assets than those available on the ASX. In this session we will discuss the sector in general and the individual pockets of value emerging in a seemingly overvalued world.
