Jeff Wieland continues to give helpful understanding to the custom home building process. On the last episode about the process Jeff explained finding your home site and finding your Builder. In this podcast Jeff explains what to expect in the process after finding your Builder. You and your Builder should have a meeting to discuss your design style, your lifestyle, family and what is expected of the Builder and what is expected of the customer during the custom home building journey. Next, the Builder prepares a proposal, pre-construction agreement and a design deposit agreement to cover the expenses of the architect preliminary plans. What should happen when you meet with the Architect while sharing your ideas, wants, needs and your vision. What kind of plans you receive after the Architect meeting and what to expect moving forward with the selection process with a designer’s assistance while staying on budget. Finally, Jeff explains the different insurance requirements for the Builder and the trades. All the preparation that happens before breaking ground makes the process of building your custom home go smoother.
