As a kid, heroes that looked like myself were not on the covers of skateboard magazines. In steps, skateboarding LEGEND- @pepwilliams. Being one of the few African-American skateboarders on the cover of Thrasher Magazine, was something of an anomaly. Although it was 1991, he was only the 3rd who’d ever graced the cover. Strange times we lived in. Although, it’s over 30 years ago- his hero status has never changed. So, it’s with great pleasure, I bring you all this exclusive interview with the man himself. Tune in, as Pep talks growing up skating Watts in the 70s. Jumping up curbs, before knowing what an “Ollie” was. We discuss the history of skateboarding in the hood, Eazy-E in Venice Beach & why people are so amazed by rappers that can skate.
