Weekly Political Pep Talks is back for Season 2! Today's main topic will be the two-party system. We'll start the episode with a quick intro and a quick conversation about the new episode format for this season! Then we'll get into five main current events for the week, regarding the testimony of the Facebook whistleblower, Biden's proclamation of Indigenous People's Day, the brewing of storms in the Midwest, and Bill de Blasio's cancellation of the gifted and talented program. Next, we'll move on to our main topic segment about the two-party system. We'll start with some definitions related to this topic, look at some background on the formation of a duopoly and 3rd parties in the US and the effect of corporate donors on politics as well as inspect how our country got stuck with a two-party system, then share our thoughts. Finally, we'll introduce today's quote of the week: “Because there's no strong third-party candidate, people are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils.” If you have a guess, DM us on Instagram @weeklypoliticalpeptalks. That's it for today, so be sure to join us next week. Happy listening and stay political!
