I am joined by the wonderful Zakia Karmal. Zakia is a 23 years old and is from Vancouver. We actually danced together back in the day! She is a recovering alcoholic and addict, but more than that she is a daughter, a friend, a student, and a partner. She struggled for upwards of 6 years with alcoholism, addiction and an eating disorder and she is here to share her story of what it was like and how she got help to get to where she is today. As well as she’d like to share some awareness of what addiction does to a person and their family to those who have experienced it. She hopes that by sharing some part of her story, it'll help someone struggling and give them hope.

I was SO honored that Zakia trusted me to share her story and to use my platform to help others struggling. This is at the top of one of my favorite episodes that I've recorded. THANK YOU ZAKIA - you are an angel.

In this episode, we chat about her story with addiction, going to rehab, seeking help, what others/loved ones can do with someone that is struggling, how she stays grounded and how she consistently works on herself every day. Highly highly recommend listening to her story and sharing it.
