Welcome to Wellthy Living Conversations episode 62.
In this episode, I have a deep and meaningful conversation with Dr. Jimi Wollumbin.
Jimi is a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a background in philosophy and eastern religion and has been described as a philosopher of medicine.
The conversation is definitely rooted in philosophy, with ancient myths woven in, as we discussed the cracked lenses in which humans move through the world, the polarisation of modern culture, and the power of storytelling, connection, curiosity, humility, and wonder in healing the divide and bringing us back to whole-person wellbeing.
Some of the things we talked about:
*The true meaning of the word ‘science’ and how the term ‘follow the science’ is driving a particular narrative and societal culture
*The cult of scientism that has emerged - science functioning as a religion
*Integrating the art and science in medicine
*Fragmentation in the modern world and how our cracked lens give us a perspective that things are split instead of whole
*The polarity between fact and myth and who’s facts are right!
*Use of facts to support our own mythic narrative - cherry-picking facts
*The place for facts play in the overall narrative
*The need for connection to self - really knowing yourself for transformation to take place
*Being open to holding narratives gently for wholeness and renovating our myths/stories
*Dancing with conflict
-Integrating different perspectives/narratives
-Disagreeing gracefully
-The conflicting perspectives within - the stories we tell ourselves
-Celebrating our shadow parts and embracing our own internal contradictions
*Fractures in the world of medicine - Split between orthodox and alternative medicine
-Wellness industry - has it become a virus onto itself, causing further separation and questionable credibility
-The importance of self-mastery in medicine for a whole and integrated approach
I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did. We would love your feedback- What’s your biggest insight or takeaway ...leave a comment and let us know.
