Why is it so hard to find a band? When we were kids (before social media was the center of everyone's life, if you want to know how old we are), you'd find bands organically; your neighbor, friend, classmate, etc. Back in the day, Craigslist used to be safe for kids (now it's just for weird hookups - hit me up in the m4mmmtw forum, by the way, if you're into crucifixion fetishes). But these days, people are desperate to find bands and have difficulty doing so. It gets even harder (giggity) as you get older, since everyone has baggage; kids, careers, vices, bitterness from previous bands, etc., or they're stuck in their ways, have dozens of songs that they expect others to learn (in other words, you're just helping to realize someone else's dream), or, the worst, they just haven't grown up; no money, transportation, or are just flakey or irresponsible.

Last week (the week before this podcast was released, the week after it was recorded), Run For Cover celebrated our 6th anniversary! If you would have told me (Jase) that the guys (well, most of them, anyway) that I met that one fateful night at a friend's house to try each other out, playing some Seven Mary Three and Third Eye Blind, not really sure where things would go, but for some reason scheduling our first gig three weeks from then... I would not have believed you. I don't have stats, but in my experience, local/cover bands just don't last that long, even when money and popularity is involved, so I'm ecstatic.

In this episode, we discuss what it takes to find and keep quality band members; a topic we haven't had to deal with in quite some time, thankfully. After six years, we each have some significant insight into what makes a band work or not work (not to mention what to do or not do to even just find other musicians).

Thanks to everyone who's come to our shows, either deliberately or because your friend dragged you out to the bar that night. We always have a blast playing for you guys - you give us so much love and our only aim is to take you back to the 90's. We love all of you and love interacting with y'all. We're happy to take pics, sign autographs, do body shots (whatever that is), or anything else! We had a blast at your birthday party, Melissa!
