The Louisiana Native Guard was a select group of free men of color in New Orleans who upon the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War initially organized to offer their support to the Confederacy as “Defenders of the Native Land”. Emmitt Glynn also spoke about education for newly freed slaves. Recorded January 21st, 2015
