On this, the 22nd episode of What in the Shibal, Susie and Ed's week consisted of falling into the rabbit hole (figuratively and almost literally) of other people's dramas - Susie talks about her week which involved the racist and grooming behaviors of Colleen Ballinger. Ed's week consisted of the b*tthole seen around the world - Kevin Leonardo and his internalized racism-based ignorant rhetoric. These cautionary tales of becoming a one trick pony chasing views leads to conversation around the effects of damaging things being said so casually, and the difficulties that comes with dating white people as POC vs dating other POC. Susie and Ed also talk about the Emmy winning movie critic whose reviews all seem to pan Asian stories like his review of Joy Ride that reveals his fragility. The Lawrence Brothers and their conversation around the 90s being great because people were all watching the same programs on limited channels and how POC may not have experienced it the same way with homogenous content. And Susie talks about reconnecting with an old grade school friend who missed out on a life long friendship potentially due to the bottom of the barrel mentality.
