If you're being charged with a possession case, there are several things that are specific to those types of cases that you should know about. In these types of cases, the main issues are whether the search that led to to cops finding the illegal substance or object (drugs, guns, identification, etc) was a legal search and can they prove that you were the one possessing the illegal object. If the search was illegal or if they can't tie the substance to you, your charges may be dismissed.
