Dr. Karen Freberg is an associate professor at the University of Louisville. Her research interest is in social media and public relations. Dr. Freberg has created her #freberg classes which allowed her students to work with brands during the semester. Her recent #freberg17 class put together and implemented a social media marketing plan for the Louisville Bats which increased their audience. Before becoming a professor, she was a student athlete at the University of Florida and later at University of Southern California as a graduate student. During her time as a graduate student, she spent a semester doing an internship for a public relations company in South Africa. Dr. Freberg has presented at conferences around the world and even written guest articles for Adobe and Meltwater.
