As travelers, we have a responsibility to be aware, educate ourselves, and most importantly speak out against genocide.

Welcome to season 3 of the While She's Away Podcast. I wish I didn't have to begin this season talking about an active genocide that is happening to the Palestinian people in Gaza, but I must. Silence is complicity at this point. So I hope, as fellow travelers and global citizens, that you take the time and listen and learn from our guest this week, Suzanne.

Suzanne Aslam is a former actress, activist, and Miss Arab USA turned writer. Suzanne helps young mothers dealing with postpartum depression. As an activist and Palestinian American, she spent time in Palestine working with a peacekeeping team and has a deep and personal understanding of the occupation.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • The history of Palestine
  • What is currently happening in Gaza
  • Defining important words such as Zionism, settlers, apartheid, etc.
  • Suzanne's personal experience doing activism in the West Bank
  • How her family has been personally impacted by the occupation
  • What we can do to support Palestine
  • Ways to educate ourselves and learn more

Thank you for taking the time to listen and learn from Suzanne! If you found this episode at all helpful, please share it with a friend who wants to learn more about the struggles of the Palestinian people.
