Most of the year, parents rely on school to keep their kids on schedule and have “free help” so they can work. When summer arrives, the shift from school to camp or daycare creates a lot of issues for employees needing to adjust their schedules. Spencer Hill from the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities outlined the problem for many in our state and defined “childcare deserts” during summertime.
Shifting from the school year to summer schedule prompted this week’s Julie on the Job topic. Career strategist, Julie Bauke, talked about why more workers prioritize quality of life over promotions and more money. What does that mean for employers and employees if a temporary schedule shift needs to happen over the summer? (14:26)
