In 1978, when his daughter was diagnosed, cancer was virtually a death sentence. No one talked about what to expect or how to handle this kind of situation. Unable to discuss his fear that his daughter would be dead in 6 months, Russ felt extremely isolated. Much fear and frustration could have been avioded if he could have had a simple conversation.
