Listen in as I share strategies for having successful 1:1 conversations/meetings with your team and why they are important.

Do you have to have tough conversations?

Yes, you absolutely do. As a leader, this is non-negotiable.

Why should you have them?

  • Accountability,
  • Connection,
  • Support,
  • Performance management
  • Annual Performance Reviews

When should you have them?

As soon as possible after an incident or something happened. Once every 3-6 months, annual reviews once a year.

Otherwise, after onboarding:

  • 3, 6 weeks
  • 3, 6 months

For Performance Management related information, listen to episode 36!

How to prepare

Remember, when we're in a stressful situation, we either fight, flight or freeze. So, preparation is key!

What if things go pear-shaped?

Stop the meeting. Say I can see you are getting frustrated, I can see that we won’t agree today, before someone gets upset, let’s reconvene in 24 hours.

Next steps:

1. Navigate to https://www.womenoffaithinleadership.com where you can:

  • Join the community of like-minded female Christian leaders. This is where I will be hanging out if I'm not on the podcast chatting to you all. Come share and support each other here.
  • Subscribe to my newsletter so you can stay up to date with all upcoming episodes and any other exclusive or special offers.

2. If you need any support, you can get in contact with me for a 1:1 coaching session. Just email me at support@rikawhelan.com

3. Connect with me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rikawhelan
