She is affectionately known as ‘The Aussie Angel Lady’ and is the author of a series of inspirational Angelic teachings that are collectively known as ‘The Angels Toolbox’. Michelle is a clairvoyant, Angelic medium and Earth Angel. Director of AOK Angels and the founder of The Angels of Kindness Fund & The AOK Angels Academy.

Janet: Hello and welcome everybody. It’s Janet Beckers here and welcome to Rising Stars Radio. This is where we share the stories of ordinary people who are taking … Doing extraordinary things to just get their business out to the world to be making a bigger impact. Now, when I say ordinary people of course no, you’re not ordinary dear listeners and certainly our wonderful guest Michelle Newton from AOK Angels is certainly not ordinary. A very special woman who has been part of our wonderful web community for the last year and I’ve really enjoyed just seeing her step-by-step going through and applying and just putting herself out of her comfort zone and getting results. Really, really rewarding to see that, so wonderful to welcome you here, Michelle.

Michelle: Thank you, Janet. It’s an absolute pleasure and an honor to talk to you, it really is. I’m so excited.

Janet: So am I, that’s great. Now, my intention is for us to be able to give as much value as we can to people today in about 20 minutes that’s going to help them as they’re growing their business and expanding it, so that they’re really building up, an authority platform and building their trade online. To be able to learn the way that you’ve been able to take steps, how to get started and we’d love to hear a bit more about you. Would you mind sharing, Michelle who it is that you help and how it is that you do that?

Michelle: Sure, Janet. Look, my reach is fairly wide. I help a lot of people, so I have a wide range of people that I help. Probably, my main target area is around about the 30 years of age to 65-year-old woman. I do have a lot of men who are interested in my work as well, so I’m a spiritual teacher and a healer, so I’m here to help people develop spiritually in their lives so that they can just cope with life every day. Just to give people hope really and I have a really big, strong theme of spreading kindness worldwide. I love to work with earth angels and I love to support them and see how we can make this place a much happier and better place.

Janet: What a beautiful thing to have as your mission of giving people hope and spreading kindness, that’s just a lovely way to build your business. Now, tell me how do you help people like if people come to you to be able to learn and to get help, how do they do that? I’m curious about the way that you structure your business, if it’s offline, if it’s online, how you … What kind of offerings and things you’ve put together?

Michelle: Well, Janet I have quite a diverse business, I initially started online with an online angel shop which of course has my blog, so people can learn off that. I have a beautiful range of inspirational gifts and angel products and also that was a platform where I launched my self-published works. I’ve actually got a collection of written workbooks, oracle cards, meditation CDs which now has really come together and it’s called the Angel’s Toolbox. Its tools for people to take use and to connect with the angels and to make their life easier. Initially, it was online and then once I really focused on writing books and oracle cards and so forth, I had to get them out there into the world.

I traveled Australia doing the large mind, body, spirit expose in the capital cities, but also initially little, tiny, small exposure. I just drove everywhere with my books and cards and I meet people and we sold beautiful crystals and angels and my books and so forth, so I marketed myself that way. Initially I started online was the main focus to reach people but also traveling and going out and actually meeting people and sharing my work. Giving them an angel card and then I’d get a little message, then we make a connection and then join my community and that’s how it started and it’s growing from there.

Janet: Wow. Fantastic so to give people an idea of how we know each other and how we’ve been working together. You had already setup your shop that had been going and as you’ve been saying it’s quite a while, you’ve already been travelling. You’ve built up a part of your brand, what have you been working with May? What program have you done and then we’ll look at why that particular program was important for you?

Michelle: Yes. I did the Me TV program with you Janet which was absolutely fantastic because I didn’t have the knowledge on how to do video at all. I had a video camera. It was given to me by my sons and it sat in the box for two years. I didn’t even know how to turn it on. I needed the knowledge because I knew I had to reach more people and that video was the perfect way to do it.

Janet: The thing that I quite like about … and then this is an important thing for people who are listening to know is that as you’re building your business, sometimes you will need to have a program that’s going to guide you step-by-step from the beginning. Michelle had already started to do some of those things, so as you’re going through and you can identify in your business, “I need help on this particular strategy. This is what I’m up to now” is you can then go and find a program that helps you with that specific strategy.

Some programs may have all those different strategies like that Shine program but if you’re finding that you just need okay like Michelle, “video, I’ve got to get it out there.” Focus on that because what a lot of people do wrong is they will try to do everything at once, Rather than identify the thing that’s important and just focus and master it. That’s what you’ve done actually; you’ve really had from observing, you’ve had a lovely discipline of actually starting from the very, very beginning and just working methodically through the program and taking action and getting results.

Michelle: Yeah, it was really, really important. I think I highlighted it Janet when I was doing the mind, body, spirit expose. I was looking at what people were really after and someone said to me once that, “It’s really important to give people what they want so that they get what they need.” I was doing teaching like seminars and this expose and so forth and that was going okay. Then all of a sudden people were wanting to get an oracle card of me and get a message so I identified that, that’s really what they want. They really want to have that hope, they want to have that message. They want to somehow know that it’s all going to be okay or give them a strategy to move forward in life.

I started to change it up and I started to do angelic readings, focus in platform work and in seminars instead. I noticed I’m packing the room. People were standing outside the room and after I’d do that session then they’d come and purchase my book or my card deck and they make connection with me on Facebook. They’d go to my online shop you see so because I was giving them actually what they wanted. I wasn’t focusing on what they needed. I actually shifted the focus to what do they want, what is it that the customer actually wants?

Janet: It’s like a chocolate coated carrot isn’t it?

Michelle: Yeah.

Janet: This is what they need, they need the carrots but you put a little bit of chocolate on it. What they really, really want and that’s what gets them in. From what you sound from doing that offline and changing that focus, is that what you then brought into your videos?

Michelle: Absolutely, because that’s what I started with. I’ve called myself published group of books and so forth; the Angels Toolbox because it’s the tool to connect with the angels. I decided, “Okay what I’m I going to name this TV station” so I called it the Angels Toolbox. What I started with was actually doing a weekly Angel Feather Oracle reading because that’s my oracle at the moment. I’m actually about to release another one but it’s called the Angel Feather Oracle and it’s just beautiful. It’s a combination of Angel guidance and color therapy so I do a weekly Angel reading and people just love it. They just love it, they look forward to it every week and then they may contact with me on Facebook or Twitter or whatever it is or they will go onto my online shop and then they will buy something little for nana or their daughters or whatever.

They might actually purchase the card deck. What’s it’s done is actually launched it internationally so it’s actually really launched me into the USA with the YouTube channel. I’ve also developed now to actually incorporate another section called Angelic Answers so that’s where I’m actually really just actually taking questions off my Facebook group, my community and then I’ll choose randomly ten questions and I’ll go on air and I’ll just actually do Angelic maybe shape and answer them and they all love that, absolutely love it.

Janet: That’s brilliant and so you’re keeping that all under the same brand that say … ?

Michelle: Yes.

Janet: … Web TV brand, that’s fantastic and what I love is … I think there’s two things here that you’ve done that’s been really, really clever and the people who are listening this is some really good advice here. Is first of all you’ve created your … You’ve first of all said that, “Okay what is the strategy? Why I’m I using video, and specifically why I’m I creating a web TV series? Which is going to be weekly so you’ve got that consistency going out and it’s because I want to get a bigger reach, I want to get out there into the US market. I want to make it so I don’t have to go travelling.”

I think it’s very clear on what it is you want to do. The second one there is, “Okay, well what is going to draw people in?” You knew from experience what that was going to be but then the next part which I think is just brilliant is, “Why shouldn’t I start interacting with people?” Listen to what people say and actually not just go, “well I’ve decided that this is what I’m going to do in all of my videos.” You’ve actually listened to what people are saying and you’ve responded and actually incorporated that into it and that, that’s what actually shows people that you’re actually listening and you’re actually caring for them. It’s a really great thing because it’s all leading towards that strategy you had right at the beginning of, “I’ve got to get my message out to a bigger audience.”

Michelle: That’s right because I’m in a small country town. You’ve got to look at, “well as a business woman how can I and I’m a very niche area.” I’m very niche, so I’m passionate about this and I love it, I absolutely love what I do and I just want to share it with more people because I know it will help them.

Janet: That is an area that maybe in a small town you may only have a small number of people who share your passion but worldwide it would be a hell lot of people who share that passion and that fascination. They’re really drawn to innocent angels and the oracles so it’s something where there is a hunger out there and I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this that because of this, the kind of niche that … Because you’re talking about hope and when it comes to hope, people have to trust the person to actually have to hope. Do you find that with the video that, that’s helping with that?

Michelle: Absolutely, I’ve got many, many people that say, that would comment regularly on the video and say, “I’ll look forward to this every week Michelle.” I think Janet, what it is, its spiritual nourishment that you’re giving people. It is making that connection that’s so important I mean I love to do it in person but seriously how can you do that worldwide? You can’t so you have to exactly what you said; you’ve got to just show up being a really honest true, kind and caring person who’s got integrity. You’re there for your community and you’re going to show up regularly and on time. Do you know what I’m saying? It’s really important I feel. I think it’s a great basis to set your business up on.

Janet: Yeah. The last part is, through your YouTube channel, you’ve actually been getting quite a few views of your video.

Michelle: Yes it’s been amazing yeah, really fantastic, we were up to twenty six and a half thousand views.

Janet: That’s fantastic especially you have everything going that long …

Michelle: No I think, when did I say, I launched that I gave you a date. I think it was from …

Janet: You said the 11th of May 2014.

Michelle: Yeah, so we’re just about to go into 12 months.

Janet: Yeah, coming up to that and I can remember because and that’s part with the Me TV program. Any of their programs actually is you have access to our private Facebook group and the beauty of that with video is you do your first video and then you can put it on Facebook group and say to people, “Tell me what you think. What’s working, what’s not working?” I can remember your lovely determination of, “Okay, I’ve just found out that I can actually use the camera I’ve already got.”

Michelle: I actually have a list written down Janet of what to do each time. Every three months I think, “Oh gosh how do I work this camera?” You can’t let things like that stop you I mean I know my lighting probably still isn’t the professional lighting but you do what you can do and as you say, “You don’t have to over complicate it. Just have a go.” I don’t think people … The people in my community don’t expect me to be looking like something I’m not anyway.

Janet: Yeah.

Michelle: They just know it’s Michelle and that’s who she is. It doesn’t have to look like a proper big TV show, it’s just, they just love it for what it is. I do the best I can with what I’ve got and I think it’s worked really well.

Janet: Yeah and that’s the thing, if it’s achieving your outcomes why complicate things? Yeah I just love that you’ve actually just got in step by step and getting the results which is incredibly rewarding. Now you mentioned that you, just before we got on the call, we were talking about now that you’ve been getting your message out there, your next step is you’re starting an academy, an online academy.

Michelle: Yeah, I am because last year I got the nudge to actually put the act to actually start teaching the Angel Feather Oracle because it’s Angel card reading and color therapy combined. It actually has a lot of depth of knowledge in it and what I aim to do is actually elevate Angel Card reading to be a more professional standing, not to have that Woo Woo type of you know energy around it …

Janet: Right.

Michelle: I want people to … I’ve actually got the … Our workbook is called the Angel Feather Oracle Practitioner Course. I’ve got the course accredited by the I-I-C-T, the International Institute of Complementary Therapies. I became a registered trainer with them, I bet I love to teach so I started to teach it in person and then I thought, “Oh gosh okay then we need to launch this online.” I stepped into the space of, not even knowing that I was going to do any of this twelve months ago, but to launch an online academy so that I can actually reach more people. I love to teach in person but you know time-wise and so forth, it just makes sense to launch the course sort of a vocation course online for everybody even for the lady up at the top of the Northern Territory who can’t get to anything why can’t she do the course? Let’s give it to her as well access to people who can’t, get to me in person and teach it online so that’s my next thing it’s about to launch in May.

Janet: That’s fantastic and that’s not far away.

Michelle: Now I know.

Janet: That’s not far away, I’m starting to see that you’ve been able to get out and reach out as if you’re getting known throughout the world and now you are going to be able to really leverage what you have been doing offline.

Michelle: Yes.

Janet: That just helps so many people, it’s exciting.

Michelle: That’s right, yeah. Really the thing is with this oracle because I wrote it, I channeled the work, it took … A lot of people it appears just beautiful, “I love it,” but I know the depths of knowledge in it with the color therapy sort of thing, that’s what I really want to teach. I actually love that area. It’s just fascinating, so …

Janet: I can hear it in your voice.

Michelle: Yeah, give people a qualification, I want it to be professional my big word is always professional.

Janet: Yeah.

Michelle: Just because I’m in a niche market that’s actually Angely, it doesn’t mean that it can’t be really professional.

Janet: Yeah.

Michelle: That’s really important to me.

Janet: Fantastic because it is an area where you can have people that approach it from so many different angles that there will be people who will approach it more from a Woo Woo …

Michelle: Yeah.

Janet: … side and other people who approach it from “This stuff works.”

Michelle: Yeah.

Janet: It’s a luck that you’ve reinforced that. Yeah, we would love to have you back next year to hear how the launch goes.

Michelle: Yes, that’s really exciting. I’ve been flat out working on that and at the same time, would you believe as if I haven’t got enough to do I’m actually about to open … I have a well-being center bank built for me would you believe, a miracle in Shepparton and at Emerald Bank am actually about to birth … My business is actually finding its home like even though it will still be online it’s going to get actually a purpose-built home. It’s going to be a well-being center, it’s going to have healers and a beautiful angel shop and I’ll be able to teach from near, my offices will be from there. We’re pretty much expanding this year, we’re going worldwide and we are actually coming out of a small office at home with everything in cupboards so we’re going to be on display seven days a week to the people and they can actually come to us as well.

Janet: Yeah, very exciting.

Michelle: I’m really excited.

Janet: Yeah, coming towards the end of our time but we’ve covered quite a bit here about your progress from when you’ve been going around to all the different festivals, to online shop to now really connecting via video the next step now of your program … Your accredited program that you’ll be taking online for people who are listening that are thinking, “Okay, what are some things that I can now implement into my own business this week based on things that Michelle has done?” What would be some good tips that you can give to people that they can focus on this week?

Michelle: I think really have a look at what skills you are missing. If you, as you said, I had no video skills so, I very much don’t know exactly what you said, what is it that I need to learn? Invest in yourself and buy the course and you can be specific, you don’t have to get one overriding thing. I’ve actually gone and just gone bang, bang, bang. I need to know how to do a Facebook ad, I’ve done a course, I need to know how to do videos, I’ve done a course. That’s what I’ve done over the last 12 months so I’ve got the knowledge. Invest in yourself with knowledge definitely.

Find a good mentor like Janet Beckers for sure it’s going to help you as well. Look at who you serve and what is it that they want so that you can give them what they need that’s really, really huge. I think your knowledge, getting support around you, getting the right mentors, find your knowledge, get your mentors and look at your … Who your target market is and what is it that they really want and how can you give them that eventually? Give them what they want so that they get what they need because people can’t see what they need, because to me the big picture is too big you just have to break it down.

Janet: That helps much. It helped, really nice clean tips and they are the kind of things that you can have a look at your own business this week and go like, “Where are the gaps in my skills that I need to fill so that I can market more effectively?”

Michelle: Yes.

Janet: Really have a good look at who your customers are and if you not clear on that then that’s okay, there’s a program for that that we’ve got. Finding out those sorts of things they are the kinds of things that you can be implementing this week. Michelle: There is Janet, they’ve just come to me, I really think as well as what I said to you before about the main things I think you should focus on is you’ve got to put things into action, you’ve got to implement things. If you do the course, action it! Why would you buy a course if you’re not going to actually follow the steps? It makes sense to me, you’ve really got to be focused on action,

Janet: Yeah, totally spot on.

Michelle: If something doesn’t work it’s okay you can change it, look at something else but you’ve really got to be every day, “What are three things that I can actually put in place, what are three things that I can actually action today to build my business and grow it?”

Janet: That is such a great message to end on, three things that you can do today that are going to move your business forward. Fantastic way to finish, thank you so much for your time today Michelle.
