We are very proud to feature our Wonderful Web Radio Rising Star interview. In this segment, we speak with Samantha Leith.

I’m Samantha Leith and throughout my life I have been both a perfect example of someone who can focus and a complete wandering disaster. I’ve had a varied working life, probably because I get bored easily and am currently working on 4 major projects, with 4 focus points. Getting to a healthy body weight (to save my life) , working full time as the Financial Controller of a publishing company (to pay the mortgage and for living in Sydney), running an online shop (to pay my daughters private school fees and for holidays) and starting my baby www.MyGoalFriend.com (to change mine and other peoples lives). You see, I believe that everybody can achieve anything they put their mind to, if it is realistic and true to their soul. I would like to help people to do this by creating a safe online and offline environment for them to share their dreams, learn from others and get encouragement to Go For Goald. I would eventually like to take this on the road, fulfilling 2 of my passions – speaking from the stage and helping others.

Transcript of the Interview

Dana: Today it’s my personal pleasure to welcome all of you to Samantha Leith; Samantha, welcome.

Samantha: Welcome, thank you. Thank you for having me.

Dana: Well, we are so excited to have you and hear so much about your growth and your business and as you know we are featuring you as our Rising Star. So if you don’t mind let’s take just a few moments and please share with our listeners a little bit more about you and your business.

Samantha: Hey well I am a 36 year old single mom in Sydney struggling to do everything so I decided online ventures were the way to go and I currently have two online businesses, one is a retail site that sells beautiful Australian made bath, body and home fragrance and products, and that’s called Some Kind of Bliss; and the other one is my absolute passion which is mygoalfriend.com. So, it’s a little bit like your girlfriend but it is your goal-friend, and the idea behind that it is a safe online community where people can voice their goals, they can be inspired to go for their goals; they can learn how to achieve their goals, all through listening to experts in certain areas. And they can get a clap on the back or they can get a bit of a shoulder to cry on if it doesn’t go right and that’s where I’m really at, at the moment because I believe everybody can achieve their goals if they’re the right goal.

Dana: Fantastic! Well my goodness; so a single mom and not only an entrepreneur but an entrepreneur that has two businesses (laughs). You’re a busy lady.

Samantha: I am a very busy lady.

Dana: Oh my goodness. So now of course because you have Some Kind of Bliss I have to say, as a woman, that is a passion of mine. Because we love all that fluffy, lovely kind of stuff that makes us feel good and the fact that you are kind of incorporating this other business into that to help entrepreneurs pursue their goals and really the mindset you must have. You must have had some clear direction and that would take me to, of course, our next question is so you have been a member of Wonderful Web Woman for quite sometime, I know because we spoke a little about that; how long have you been a member and what other programs have you participated in?

Samantha: I think it’s around about the three to four year mark. I came on board after being invited through somebody else’s newsletter to an interview that they were doing with Janet and loved what I heard so whenever I have had the opportunity I have listened into calls. I had been at various member levels. I actually, the turning point was when I actually heard Janet speak live and she was talking about her program with Wonderful Web Seminars and a program she did called Passion to Profits, which was about teaching people how to do what she’s done with Wonderful Web Woman by interviewing experts. And that was then when the penny clicked for me because I am perfectionist that’s not perfect and I really wanted to do my goalfriend and have wanted to do it for years but thought I couldn’t do it until I was my dream size, had paid off my mortgage, found a partner and only worked five minutes a day. So hearing Janet speak, I thought, my gosh, I can actually do this by interviewing the people that are experts at goal setting and achieving goals in all the different areas in life without me having to be the perfect one. So it was fabulous. Great program; highly recommend it.

Dana: Very good, well and I will say too, I took Janet’s Passion to Profits program a couple of years ago now and I am proud to say you know, still two years and an entrepreneur working online, working from home kind of a PJ queen we like to be able to work form home in our pajamas if we can…

Samantha: If we can…Yeah.

Dana: Absolutely! Well, and I love to be out in the market place and actually working out with people too. It is nice to be home but it is always nice to interact and engage with others. Now would you say that there was— you mentioned that there was that call that kind of sparked you up a little bit, was there anything else about participating in Janet’s other programs that has really made a difference not only in your business but in your personal life?

Samantha: I think the biggest difference for me was that the combination of all the calls I listened to and the reading her blog post and the newsletters and all the different things was that it was one of the few places I found online that was incredibly real. And then I got the opportunity to meet people through Wonderful Web Women that were again real and made you feel that, I could do it, having not being a tick expert and not having all these a lot of other skills. So it was a really comforting thought that these people were doing it and you could do exactly the same thing; so I don’t think there was a really defining moment, it was just all of that put together.

Dana: So moving forward because you have obviously have taken, just leaps. Like I said, you’re not just focused on one business now; you’ve got two very successful businesses going. And I love mygoalfriend. That is a really—I know we’ve been to the site and it is such a cool site so all of are going to have to—at the end we’ll give you the link to go ahead and find out more about that, but it’s just fantastic. And so moving forward based on what you’ve learned and the skills that you are learning through Janet’s programs, how do you feel you are going to be able to apply this to your business now moving forward?

Samantha: Moving forward, I think my business is going to evolve much like Janet’s has; embracing technology and the changing things of what people want. So mygoalfriend, the basis of it is what I have learned through Janet’s program and then the little extra bits that you get on top that will allow me to spread my wings and hopefully take mygoalfriend actually offline and have you know, weekly meetings with people in different areas and starting in Sydney. Where we can give each other that support to go for goals because a lot of us don’t have that in our family or friends structure and I really, really want people to be able to have that in life.

Dana: Yeah that’s so important and what I love about your vision is you started out—so some entrepreneurs I know that may be listening to this call are people that are hoping to start an online business. I think sometimes we get so overwhelmed and consumed with the technology and there are so much to know and I love that you started with a basic business even though it is a big undertaking and yet it’s growing.

Samantha: Absolutely.

Dana: Yeah you’ve got big dreams for this business and a lot of ideas.

Samantha: I’ve got really big dreams for it and I have to say one of the hardest things, and if I can advise anybody, is I tried to do so much of it myself and you just can’t and it stops you doing it, so I work with a team of a couple of people in the UK that help me do a lot of my technical stuff. And whatever you need to do to find the money to be able to do that, so you can actually get into the nuts and bolds of what you want your business to be whether it is you know, doing a blog post about a candle I want everybody to buy that month, or talking about someone’s goals, that’s what you need to be doing; not working at how to change your WordPress.

Dana: That’s right because that is not our area of expertise, right? There is a bigger part of our business that we actually want to have our hands in, and let the experts do what they are meant to do and that’s help you move your business forward. It takes a team.

Samantha: Absolutely! But, chances are if you’re an entrepreneur you want to be able to do it all yourself, and it’s just, you can’t.

Dana: I know. I think we both discovered that. it can be—you know, it just takes up way too much time and it can become, can put into that state of overwhelm, which we know what happens. It basically paralyzes you and stops you from being able to move forward.

Samantha: Absolutely.

Dana: Now are there any tips, since we’ve got this time with you today, are there any tips that you’d like to share that you really learned as a result of being of member of Wonderful Web Women or any other inspiring tips that you have for your listeners?

Samantha: Ah! I would have a couple, one of them would be: get help. Two of them would be, the second one rather would be to just open your eyes and take advantage of the information that is out there, whether it is free or paid. We all have a case a lot of the time of going, oh I know how to do that. And we don’t, and the more we listen, the more we can learn. Nine times out of ten if I find an inspiring speaker from one of Janet’s interviews, I’ll go to their site; I’ll join their newsletter, I’ll subscribe to their pod cast, so I can get more information and get more inspiration. The more inspired we are the more we can actually do and the more inspired you are the less likely you are to get frozen by the perfectionist bug and actually just get out there and do it.

Dana: Absolutely I think that’s part of, you know, getting ourselves immersed with like-minded people and like you said the inspiration sometimes can just take you from that point of frustration and, oh poor me; it’s not working out for me to all of a sudden having that light and that fire lit underneath you to help push you forward again.

Samantha: Absolutely and they don’t all have to be inspiring rags to riches stories. It can be one little thing that someone says that just makes the light bulb go off and makes you go home after doing a day a job you don’t particularly like to spend that extra ten minutes and get something done on what you really want to do.

Dana: Now that is absolutely correct. It is like that passion that fuels us to move forward. Well you have been just such a wonderful pleasure to have on our radio show and I just want to give you an opportunity and all of our listeners to connect together; so where would be the perfect place for us to send our listeners to find out more about you and either Some Kind of Bliss or mygoalfriend?

Samantha: Well, if they go to www.mygoalfriend.com they can actually subscribe and they can get my 52 tips for going for gold and then that is one little page that is delivered to you with just 52 short tips and then over the course of 52 weeks you will get one of those tips in greater detail. So they may not be in order of how to create the perfect goal but they will really, really help and that site will also lead you to my other sites and buying beautiful candles which we have to burn all year round to make ourselves feel better.

Dana: We love that. Well and for all of you listening just in case you missed it, it’s mygoalfriend.com and there is a link right below this audio so that you’ll be able to connect with her directly and I would encourage you to do so. I know she is doing amazing things and we are just so honored to have her on this call and this interview today. So, thank you Samantha so much for taking time out of your day to join us. I know I’m here in the US and you’re over there in Australia. Beautiful, are you having a great day there?

Samantha: It is a beautiful day I have been out for breakfast already with my mom and my daughter, lovely day.

Dana: That’s right because it is your weekend. Oh! Wonderful.

Samantha: It is…yay!

Dana: Well, and thank you for taking time away from the family to join us; we really do appreciate it.

Samantha: Thank you for having me. It’s very exciting.

Dana: Well, and it really has been our pleasure and I’m anxious to see where mygoalfriend takes you and takes the rest of us. And as always I just want to thank each and every one of you for taking time out of your day to join us.
