BONUS EPISODE: 2 million people in the UK are living with sight loss that is severe enough to have a significant impact on their daily lives. Half of this sight loss is avoidable.

This year's National Eye Health Week Is taking place from 18 to 24 September 2023, promoting the importance of good eye health and the need for regular eye tests for all.

To promote National Eye Health Week Working Hours was lucky enough to speak to Farida Ali.

Farida Ali has a background in public health. Currently Farida is working for the charitable organization the Association of Blind Asians Leeds (or ABA Leeds) as their Community Engagement Coordinator. Her primary focus is connecting with diverse community groups across Leeds to promote eye health and the eye health services provided by ABA Leeds.

Farida also play a vital role in establishing and cultivating partnerships with other organizations in Leeds, working collaboratively to advance ABA Leeds’ mission. Farida contributes to event planning and, for the interim, takes charge of their social media management; ensuring that outreach efforts are effective and impactful and that they’re making a positive difference to the eye health of communities in Leeds.

If you’re listening to this on or before the 23rd September, the event Farida mentions is at the Reginald Centre from 10:30 to 2pm.
