The US has accused Russia of interfering in its upcoming election, indicting two Russian media executives, issuing sanctions against state media groups and seizing internet domains which America believes have spread misinformation. The FBI and US Attorney General want to crush the issue before the vote, rather than deal with the aftermath as in 2016 and 2020. But how serious is the problem? Are voters really being swayed? And how do you control it? The Times' Washington reporter Hugh Tomlinson analyses the issue.

Also is there ore to Russia's bombing of the Western Ukrainian city of Lviv than simple "revenge" for Ukraine's incursion into Russia, as Vladimir Putin claimed? A former NATO planner tell us he believes so.

The World in 10 is the Times' daily podcast dedicated to global security. Expert analysis of war, diplomatic relations and cyber security from The Times' foreign correspondents and military specialists.
